More Oregon (Douglas Fir)

While at a builder mates 45th birthday the other day I spotted some salvage Oregeon he had in his driveway. After consuming lots of beer and explaining to him the brilliant use I could put that Oregon to he offered it up on the proviso I take him sailing – thanks Ivo its gone to a good home.

I set up my light weight milling rig in the driveway (wife wasn’t home)! Contemplated how I was going to cut it up, work around the knots and somehow get it through the Triton?

It took a while– an end for end pass through the table saw and about 20min hand ripping with a blunt saw got me some workable planks. These I’ve milled to strips for the laminated curvy tiller, some battens to finish the Centre Case and the Centre Case covering cap. The remainder I’ve kept in storage.

The monster! How to trim this beast?

The blunt handripping saw – hmm wont do that again!

The down side to all this was I broke the belt inside my thicknessor. My fault not the machine, I stepped on the extension cord plug mid thickness and the machine turned off then on before I could turn it off. Consequence – 1 melted belt. It’s off getting fixed, should be back within a week (I hope).
